Strategic Vision
The Wiess School of Natural Sciences has joined all of Rice in crafting a roadmap for the future that builds on Rice's Vision for the Second Century. The vision for the Wiess School is summarized from a presentation to the Rice Board of Trustees in May 2006. This vision is the culmination of a process that began with faculty retreats in 2004-2005 to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and departmental goals, including steps that each department could undertake toward realizing those goals. During 2005-2006, leadership meetings were held to hone our vision, mission, strategic goals, and tactical goals and to reflect on our research and educational objectives. During the spring of 2006, a web site was introduced to solicit feedback from the larger community. We appreciate the efforts of the department chairs for their manifold contributions to this process and the input provided by many members of the Wiess School of Natural Sciences.
