Adilet Imambekov
Assistant Professor of Physics & Astronomy
Adilet Imambekov, originally from Kazakhstan, joins the Department of Physics and Astronomy as Assistant Professor.
His area of research is theoretical condensed matter and atomic physics.
This field interests him because of new possibilities and intellectual challenges opened by experimental progress. It has potential for development of new technologies to build quantum circuits at the interface of solid-state physics and optics, and understanding properties of nanostructures. Imambekov says, “In the long run, my work may contribute to the design of new fast devices for classical and quantum computation.”
Imambekov says he finds Rice an excellent environment for his field of research, which he says inspires him because of the possibility to use the power of the mind to understand nature.
In his leisure time Imambekov enjoys running, mountaineering, and climbing.
